The Vmoto TC Dual Battery electric moped is fitted with a second power pack, thus doubling the capacity of the standard TC to 3.6 kWh. This extends the range up to 80 miles in urban settings or around 50 miles at a constant speed. To ensure seamless charging and riding, the TC Dual Battery includes a paralleler cable which allows the two power packs to charge and discharge simultaneously. The increased capacity of the power packs results in a full recharge time of around 12 hours from the standard 280 W charger.
The TC Dual Battery will appeal to anyone looking for a long range motorcycle that can be ridden with a basic AM (moped) licence. This includes people of 16 or over with a valid CBT licence or anyone that passed their UK driving test before Feb 2001.
For people of 17 and over, with a minimum of a valid CBT licence, the TC Ultra can be derestricted, which will increase its top speed to a maximum of 45 mph. This modification alters the classification of the TC Ultra which would need to be notified to the insurer. Please note that operating at speeds above 28 mph will reduce range and derestriction risks invalidating the two year motorcycle and three year battery warranty.
The price of the TC Dual Battery reflects a government grant of 20% on the standard version of the motorcycle only. The second battery and paralleler cable do not attract a grant as they are only available as accessories.
As with the standard TC, the Bosch motor delivers 1.5kW (2 hp) of continuous power with a maximum of 3kW, but with an impressive 110 feet pounds of torque, this 84 kg machine accelerates very swiftly off the mark up to its top speed of 28 mph.
Suspension is via upside-down front forks and an adjustable mono shock at the rear and the 17 inch alloy wheels are fitted with 220mm front and 180mm rear, drilled disks.
Advanced features include bright LED lighting throughout, keyless go, a large LCD instrument panel and an anti theft alarm/immobiliser system that is activated and deactivated with a wireless remote.
